Role Purpose

The Business Development Manager will create sustainable revenue opportunities across Eklingji Limited's international education and professional business-consulting activities.

The role will focus on developing new student-referral channels, education-sector relationships, corporate opportunities and strategic commercial partnerships while maintaining the company's student-centred standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a business-development plan.
  • Identify new markets and commercial opportunities.
  • Build referral relationships with schools, colleges, education organisations and professional partners.
  • Develop relationships with universities and education groups alongside the Institutional Partnerships Manager.
  • Generate qualified business leads for the company's consulting services.
  • Research potential markets and competitors.
  • Develop proposals and commercial presentations.
  • Participate in contract and partnership negotiations.
  • Maintain a structured sales and partnership pipeline.
  • Establish clear forecasts, probability stages and next actions in the CRM.
  • Work with Marketing on lead-generation campaigns.
  • Represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities.
  • Develop channel and referral strategies without encouraging unethical recruitment practices.
  • Monitor revenue, conversion and commercial performance.
  • Ensure commercial promises can actually be delivered operationally.
  • Work with Finance/management to monitor commissions and outstanding commercial payments.
  • Assist with new product and service development.
  • Prepare monthly pipeline and revenue reports.
  • Protect confidential commercial and student information.
  • Conduct appropriate due diligence before entering strategic relationships.

Performance Measures

Qualified opportunities, new partnerships, revenue generated, pipeline quality, partner retention, conversion, forecast accuracy and quality of commercial relationships.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrable business-development or partnership-management experience.
  • Strong commercial judgement.
  • Excellent negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build senior stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong CRM and pipeline-management discipline.
  • Ability to understand both B2C student recruitment and B2B professional services.

Desirable

Experience in education, international student recruitment, professional services or consulting.

Employment at Eklingji

Working hours
Normally 37.5 hours per week. Any additional hours must comply with applicable Working Time Regulations and company policy.
Annual leave
At least the statutory paid annual-leave entitlement applicable to the employee. Company contractual benefits may provide a higher entitlement.
Pay
Salaries shown are gross annual basic salaries. Eklingji Limited will ensure pay does not fall below the applicable National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage.
Right to work
Employment is conditional on the company completing all legally required right-to-work checks.
Visa sponsorship
Sponsorship applies only to roles expressly identified as eligible and only where the employee, occupation, salary and vacancy meet the immigration requirements in force when the Certificate of Sponsorship is assigned.

Employees must not provide regulated immigration advice or services unless appropriately authorised to do so. Non-authorised staff must refer regulated cases to an authorised adviser.
Data protection
Employees must process student, applicant, employee and partner information securely, confidentially and in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements and company policies.
Ethical student recruitment
Staff must provide accurate and transparent information. Employees must never guarantee admission, scholarships, visa approval, post-study employment or permanent residency.
Conflicts of interest
Commercial commissions or institutional relationships must not override the obligation to recommend suitable education options to students.
